For our second story today from the Brazil team, meet Kalvin Doyle. The team's trip in March was Kalvin's first international trip and visit to Sao Paulo. See below to read Kalvin's story about how the Lord moved in his life while serving in Brazil alongside Restoration Ministries.

When I was told I was put on the list to go on the trip, I was surprised. It was an honor going on the trip. I always wanted to go on a mission trip, but I never thought my first trip would be to Brazil. I had no idea what to expect after a long 10 hour flight. I have never been on a plane or to another country for that matter. Seeing the poor conditions everywhere we went was a shock to me. Seeing how these people live in poor conditions made me sad, but it also reminded me to appreciate what God has given me.

While we were visiting a lady in the favelas, she had very little but she had a passion for Christ. I was asked to tell her a story from my past in high school, about how someone mistreated me and told me I was not fast enough to play on the track team. I told her I did not let that get to me. I turned that into my motivation to actually compete on the track team, finish high school, and to attend college to get my Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. I told her no matter how it gets, God will be with her. As my favorite bible verse Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all thing through Christ Who gives me strength", I shared with her that one day she will get out of there and move forward to a better life.

We need to be grateful for the things we have. God does things for a reason whether we like it or not. Either way it makes us stronger.

It was a wonderful trip, and I would love to go again in the future. With me graduating from
Blinn and planning on going into the Navy, if God wants me to go back He will make it happen.

We have one more story from the team to share tomorrow. Continue to follow along! To read the other stories from the team featured this week, visit here, here, and here.
