"But an hour is coming, and now is, when true worshipers
will worship the Father in spirit and truth;
for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers."
John 4:23
At Champion Fellowship, we desire first and foremost that our worship be pleasing to God. We want to take seriously the fact that the Father is seeking a particular kind of worshiper. He is seeking "spirit and truth" worshipers. We want to worship in spirit. So whether in a corporate gathering, in our families or alone with the Lord, we want to recognize that true worship involves born-again, ransomed spiritual people whose spirits are engaged with and enamored by the One who is Spirit (John 4:24). We believe that the redeeming work of Christ makes our worship pleasing to the Father.
We also want to worship in truth. The idea of worshiping in truth involves thinking right thoughts about God. One cannot think right thoughts about God unless he or she is born again and has a knowledge that is informed by God's revelation of Himself in His word. In other words, we want to be a people who consume God's word so that we don't proclaim or think things about Him that, when tested by scripture, prove to be false. We need the revelatory work of God the Holy Spirit in our minds and hearts in order to think right thoughts about Him.
